The idea of this conference arose from the belief that the Muslim Urnmah (nation) has started to crystallize its contemporary civilizational project to get out of the acute crises from which it has suffered for a long time. In this propitious orientation, the Ummah does not only offer solutions for the problems from which Muslims suffer but also for the problems of the world at large. Although the crises of the Muslims Ummah embrace most aspects of its life, the intellectual crisis is the central cause of the other crises. Many Muslim thinkers have realized the weighty role of education and educational thought in the formation of the character of the individual as well as the nation. However, the prevalent educational thought in our educational institutions is rooted in western origins which have failed to achieve noble human goals in western societies themselves, and, therefore, disqualified to achieve the aspired Islamic aims and objectives. This book includes the idea, themes and programs of the conference, the proceedings of its opening session, the names of participants, the orientations and aspirations of the conference in addition to abstracts of the papers presented. The papers themselves, will be shortly published, in two separate volumes. This book and the two which will follow include the main features of the conference proceedings. Despite the difficulty of recording the forms of dialogue and rich discussions which took place during the conference, we can proudly mention the serious scientific spirit, the useful discussion, genuine fraternal relations, interaction, reciprocity and cooperation which prevailed over the conference sessions and created an atmosphere of hope and positiveness, things which were voiced by several participants especially guests from outside Jordan.
