A daylong seminar on Islamic Epistomology & Curriculum Reform: Special Reference to the Quran and Sunnah Studies was held at the Islamic University, Kustia on 28 February, 2009. More than 70 participants from the faculty members of the disciplines of Al-Quran & Islamic Studies; Al-Hadith & Islamic Studies ; Daw & Islamic Studies; Al-Fiqh; Arabic Language & Literature and Islamic Jurisprudence attended the seminar. The seminar was divided into two sessions: paper presentation by Prof . Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan and presentation by each department of Islamic Studies. Prof. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan, Associate Prof. IIUM presented 5 papers namely- The session followed by presentations from the department of All the sessions were presided over by Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahman Anwary, Islamic University, Kustia chapter chief of BIIT. Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive Director BIIT was the special guest in all the sessions. In the 1st session chief guest was Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim, Vice Chancellor-in-charge of Islamic University, Kustia. In this session after recitation from the Holy Quran, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, DED, BIIT delivered an introductory speech to welcome all and highlight the program of the workshop. Then Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan presented his paper on Coherence in the Quran. Participants actively took part in the discussion. The Chief guest delivered a valuable & thought provoking speech. In the 2nd session Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan presented 3 papers, namely Hadith on Predestination, Quran as a Criterion for Hadith Text Examination and Arguments for Abrogation in the Quran. Every presentation was followed by a lively interactive discussion by a large number of participants. Then after tea break & Asr prayer the presentation session from the departments of Al-Quran & Islamic Studies, Al-Hadith & Islamic Studies; Dawa & Islamic Studies, Al-Fiqh, Arabic Language & Literature and Islamic Jurisprudence. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan made some remarks and valuable comments on the group presentations. After Magrib prayer Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan highlighted the present curriculum of Quran & Hadith Studies of IIUM. The workshop closed with a presidential speech by the Prof. Dr. A. Rahman Anwary & vote of thanks by Mr. M. Abdul Aziz.
