A daylong seminar on Islamic Paradigm of Education with special reference to Quranic & Sunnatic Science was held on 27 Februay, 2009 at BIAM, Dhaka. 50 participants from Dhaka University, Jogonnath University, National University, Open University, International Islamic University, Bangladesh Islamic University, Uttara University, Darul Ihsan University, South East University, Madrasha Teachers Training Institute and also from some colleges & Madrashas attended the seminar. The resource person was Prof. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan from International Islamic University Malaysia where he presented 5 papers namely The 1st session was chaired by Mr. Md. Sirajul Islam (Rtd. Judge), Vice Chairman, BIIT. After Recitation from the Holy Quran by Maulana Obaidulla, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, DED, BIIT gave a briefing on the day long program of the seminar & requested all to attend all the session actively. Dr. Lutfur Rahman, Director, BIIT, delivered his Address of welcome. He thanked all the participants & guests for attending the seminar and high lighted the objectives & activities of BIIT. Later on he introduced our foreign guest & paper presenter or to the audience. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan then presented his first paper and argued that there is no abrogation in the Quran through critical analysis, Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Lutful Kabir Sadi & Syed Abdullah Naeim took part in the discussion on the presentation and raised some questions that were answered by the learned presenter of the paper. In the 2nd siession Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan presented his 2nd paper and highlighted the importance of text examination of Hadith to be done for its authenticity along with judging the chain of narrators. This time Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Abdus Shakur Khandakar, Dr. Mahmudul Hasan & Mustafa Monjur took part in the discussion and raised some point of questions. The presentor made clarification of points. In the 3rd session Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan presented his 3rd paper and gave Emphasis on the Quran to be the criterion for Hadith text examination and quoted some Hadiths in this regard. On the presentation Mr. Rafiqul Islam Pathan, Abdullah Sakil, Tajul Islam and Dr. Mahumdul Hasan acted as discussants & raised some questions and were answered by the paper presentation clearly. Then Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan Presented his paper an Islamic Paradigm of Education. He highlighted the different systems and streams of education of different Muslim & Non-Muslim countries and mentioned that none is Islamic in wider & true sense. He proposed that it is to be re-oriented and discussed some points for re-orientation. Then after tea break & Asr salat, Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan highlighted the different aspects of curriculum of Quran & Hadith Studies of IIUM and proposed to the participants to adjust the curriculum of their own universities if possible. At the end of the session, Dr. Lutfur Rahman, Director, BIIT and president of the session offered his vote of thanks to all and declared the seminar closed.
